This is a website that sells men's slacks–my brother-in-law and fashion advisor Cesar recommended them to Bob–and WOW. The quality is amazing, and the customer experience is sublime. Just another example of a company that does one thing (provide men with great pants) really, really well.
I am a huge fan of companies that "stick to the knitting". This may seem surprising, given that most people hire me to help identify and grow new markets and product categories–but if you think about it, it makes sense. As someone who spends her days developing and implementing aggressive growth strategies, I see that most companies underestimate the cost and effort required to successfully manage multiple products, services and markets.
This strategy of disciplined focus has paid off for Bonobos, who recently raised a 2nd round of $3M in angel funding at a $15 million pre-money
valuation. Angel backers include Sandwith Ventures. One of the Stubhub
founders, Colin Evans joined the board.
At some point, I (and their investors) hope that Bonobos will apply their core strengths of product design and customer service to other garments besides men's pants–but for now, I'm just glad to have a go-to place for a key basic!
