Building on last year’s hit book by Chris Anderson, Free: The Future of a Radical Price, Venture Capitalists and entrepreneurs as well as more traditional businesses are looking for ways to use free content and services as a means of building trial, buzz and networked effects. In a digital age, where variable costs can approach zero, companies have a new kind of pricing flexibility. So far, most of the conversation has focused on consumer-oriented models. B2B has historically shied away from free for several reasons—lack of fit with big ticket business offerings, risk of losing perceived value and willingness to pay, and, and the high cost of providing customer support for these (free) offerings. But this situation is changing.
Join me Wednesday evening for an engaging and provocative conversation We will look at Consumer/Business hybrids as well as corporate-only SaaS companies.
